An alternative to the Lamentations of Jeremiah, this set of Lamentations to words by William Blake is intended for use on Maundy Thursday, but may be used otherwise.  It sets selected words from two of Blake’s prophetic books: Vala, or The Four Zoas and Jerusalem.

A shorter counterpart to this work by Lancaster, also setting words from Blake’s Vala but intended for Good Friday, is published by Stainer & Bell: Into the Tomb for unaccompanied SATB.
